Born in Gujranwala, Pakistan. Samina got a BSC and MSC degree from the College of Home Economics and Social Sciences in Lahore with a major in Education. She came to New York in 1973 and has been studying Arabic at NYU. Samina just returned from Syria, where she stayed for four weeks and worked with an NGO and studied Arabic at Berlitz. She is looking forward to the opportunities of actually applying her training to practical use.

Rajni was born and brought up in Delhi. She did her graduation, post-graduation, and recieved a Masters in Philosophy from Delhi university. She has been actively involved with the volunteer work in her school district and taught Hindi in the recreation department and in the community. Next summer Rajni wants to run a STARTALK program in Hindi in her school district and is currently working with Gabriela and Binduji in NYU as a Hindi language grader.

Born in Bombay. Worked for many years as a technologist on Wall Street. After some time on Wall Street, Ravi became a social worker. He worked with Indian, Bengali, and Chinese families. Now he works as a social worked with people with disabilities.

Born in Jaipur Rajasthan - Pink City. Taught art to girls and ran a hobby workshop. Shanti has a masters in political science. She has her own textile design and block printing business in Rajasthan. Shanti wants to teach children how to write, read, and speak Hindi fluently.

Born and rasied in Bombay. While in medical school, Urvi realized that learning languages is a must and her job required that she learn Hindi in Junior College. She is currently an occupational therapist.

Born in Hyderabad, India, received her masters there and went on to teach in a graduate school. Upon moving to the United States, Jayshree lost all connection to the Hindi Language. She has recently reconnected with her past and joined the STARTALK program so that she may become a Hindi teacher.

Born in Lucknow but moved as a young child to Bombay. Received his masters in nuclear physics. Worked as a physics and math teacher in India, but also taught Hindi poetry. He is currently a respiratory therapist and teaches Hindi in a temple in Queens, NY.

Born in Lucknow. Mohsin received a masters in nuclear physics. He worked for IBM in England. He travelled all throughough Western Europe and the Middle East before moving to the United States in 1985. Here he received his second masters in Islamic Studies. He has worked with Gujrati refugess from Uganda. He currently lives in Princeton and wishes to get into the field of teaching.
